Hard surface objects are anything man-made or constructed. Architectural structures, vehicles, robots, and anything machined or manufactured could fall into this category. 

Organic models are subjects that naturally exist in nature. This would include humans, animals, plants, trees, rocks, boulders, terrains, clouds, and even lightning bolts.

  • Midterm (October 25)

In production, props are a huge part of the modeling pipeline, so huge that a lot of studios have dedicated modelers for creating props. In this project, you will model one complex prop/asset. You will research and develop this project by gathering references and inspiration.

  • Find at least 10 concept designs/references of your choice using Pinterest to store your choices. Also, a group pinterest board will be created for students to use to help you decide on a concept. We will discuss what you chose then we will narrow those choices down in class.  *Midterm concept needs to approved first*

  • Once you have chosen your design you will begin setting up your scene then begin modeling.

  • We will review progress in class.

  • Final will be a turntable video and Maya file that includes a wireframe in your video
